Creeds Cross- Gods & Fighting Men (2014)

Here here, its that time again folks. By request passed along by my buddy DJ Taz from IAAM Radio i was sent the album "Gods & Fighting Men" by the Irish rock band Creeds Cross. Upon the first listen its not entirely and album i would play on the norm but most certainly when im in a more rock mood (especially if i feel like drinking) than this record would be great to spin and serve up with some guests. Creeds Cross throws a bit of everything at you from fiddles to banjo's but do it impressively well. Each song virtually serves up as an anthem with well executed precision and flawless chemistry within the song writing and playing.

Songs like "The Harvest" rock stomp their way through with a high tempo adrenaline rush the flows nicely throughout. The instrumental "Irish Air" is a very serene and beautiful piece that flows nicely into the aforementioned Harvest track. Musically Creeds Cross is a diverse, versatile, talented group featuring musicians Bart Foley, Denis Dowling, Brian Kelly, Mark Conyard, Bob Skeat, Pete Jupp, Grant Wildy. Flying the flag for Cork, Dublin, Kildare, Mayo and Kerry as the group serves up a very likeable rock album that works for just about any listener. The title track "Gods & Fighting Men" is another excellent irish anthem that has a heavier vibe without going outside the boundaries of the rest of the record. This is a type of a record that fits nicely in any rock forum from alternative to 80's pop rock. I could certainly see this band touring with the likes of UK based Dogtown Rebels (albeit they have a more punk vibe) as both groups share a love for uplifting and high tempo rock music.

If your looking for some good irish rock music great for kicking back in your favorite pub giving you that feeling of congregating with friends for some drinks this record is great for such moments and a lot of fun to listen too. Certainly these guys can find a place at the bar at Metal Tavern, did someone say beer???

You can currently check out some of Creeds Cross music both at IAAM Radio as well as here at Metal Tavern Radio in our alternative/modern rock spotlight segments on Sundays from 5-7pm Est.
